HORROR FICTION?

Armstrong, Kelley Bitten: a novel Viking, 2002 ISBN 0670894710
Werewolves--Fiction.

Elena Michaels is a seemingly happy young woman, working in Toronto as a journalist. She lives with her architect boyfriend, learning to adapt to his close knit family. But while she's told her boyfriend Philip about her past in foster homes, and her need for family, she conceals her most important secret. She is a werewolf. The only female werewolf, as werewolf genes are passed down from male to male. She was one of the few who survive a werewolf's bite to make the change. She must "change" at least once a week. She does not hunt humans, or automatically change when the moon is full. But she does go out in the dead of night, shuck her clothing and change form- releasing her feral instincts in a run in a dark ravine.
Her past invades her pleasant life in the form of leader Jeremy calling her back to defend the pack's den at Stonehaven. She must confront Clay, the werewolf lover who bit her; changing her to a werewolf and destroying her dreams. She must also confront her denial of her true self, before she can protect her pack and find happiness.
